Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA)

Securing your financial future for retirement is easy with a WashingtonFirst Bank IRA.  WashingtonFirst Bank offers both Traditional and Roth IRAs.

Traditional IRA

  • Minimum opening deposit of $1,000.00
  • Contributions may be tax deductible*
  • Make contributions under the age of 70 ½ if you have earned income equal to or greater than your IRA contribution
  • Funds can be used to purchase a variety of savings instruments with varying terms and maturities

(Any funds with drawn before age of 59 ½ may be subject to penalties including principal contributions.)

Roth IRA

  • Minimum opening deposit of $1,000.00
  • Any earnings are tax free if withdrawn after age 59 ½ and the account has been open five years or more*
  • Contributions (not earnings) can be withdrawn tax free at any time**
  • Contributions are not tax deductible and income restrictions will apply***
  • Funds can be used to purchase a variety of savings instruments with varying terms and maturities

*There is a single, 5 year holding period when determining whether earnings can be withdrawn federally tax – free as part of a qualified distribution from a Roth IRA account.  This period begins January 1 of the year of the first contribution to any Roth IRA account.
